About APLC
APLC is known as Asian Prisons Lockdown Challenges (APLC) and is organized by the Singapore Prison Service.
The biennial APLC is a three-day competition that simulates the scenarios of arson, inmate riots and hostage-taking in prisons, featuring three team competitions (Rescue Hostage, Shooting, and Stopping Riots) and individual competitions (Shooting, Searching, and Physical Obstacle Course).
“The Prison Riot Response Challenge, first held in the United States, is an international event designed to test the resilience of prison guards in the face of emergencies. By allowing participants to experience simulated scenarios, it further enhances their crisis awareness. At the same time, it is also an opportunity to share experiences with prison guards from different countries and learn from the riot control techniques and prison management experiences of different prison departments. Therefore, the Challenge has also become a platform to promote mutual exchanges and learning, and continuously improve the professional skills of prison officers.
As a veteran team of this event, Thailand’s team has achieved very impressive results in this year’s APLC 2023.
